Dear students,
Let me give you more details about how the exam will be.
- Every student must come at the beginning of the slot they booked, regardless of the actual order that will be followed in the slot. For example, all the students that will give the exam on the afternoon of the 5th of June must arrive at 14.30; all the students that will give the exam on the morning of the 6th must come at 9.30; all the students that will give the exam on the afternoon of the 6th must come at 14 and so on, depending on the slot you booked.
- The exam for every slot will begin with a few questions you must answer in 15 minutes in written form. These questions will be about very basic definitions (e.g.: definitions for asymptotic notation, defining input and output of some problems seen in class) that I would ask each of you at the beginning of the oral examination, so this first step speeds up the process. People who are not there at the right time for this first step will not be allowed giving the exam on that same day.
- People who answer satisfactorily these basic questions will proceed with the exam as already described in class: they will give their presentation, followed by the oral examination if it is above the passing mark.
- People who cannot answer satisfactorily these basic questions cannot pass the exam and will not give the presentation on that day. They need to book another date (waiting at least two weeks before retaking the exam).
- You will be proposed the final grade at the end of each slot. This is to reduce bias in the evaluation process.
I will inform you about the rooms where the exams will be as soon as they are booked.
