6.5 Quick Review

To determine the domain of a function, remember these three fundamental rules:

  • Fraction → denominator ≠ 0
  • Square root → radicand ≥ 0
  • Logarithm → argument > 0

If more than one constraint is present, all conditions must be satisfied simultaneously. The domain is therefore the intersection of the corresponding solution sets.
