FAQs
What operating systems can I use?
Windows, Linux, macOS, you choose. Any operating system that can run the Java JDK is fine.
What software can I use to write Java code?
We suggest IntelliJ IDEA Community, it provides an extensive set of automatic refactorings, has good performance and offers plugins for both Gradle and Git. If you are already familiar with another IDE just use it. Avoid simple text editors.
Do I need a notebook to follow the lectures?
No. At the same time, if you have a notebook bring it with you. During some lectures you will work on exercises in pairs/groups. One laptop per pair/group will be enough.
When can a group be formed and choose a project?
You can form a group and choose a project at any time during the course. We suggest to start the project by the end of the course, when you'll know what practices and techniques we want you to use while working on it.
Can I work alone on the chosen project?
No, working alone does not allow to follow all the practices taught during the lectures and, from our experience, the presented projects have a lower quality. Anyway, we will consider possible requests to work alone.
Are the lecturers recorded?
Yes, following the Linee guida sulla didattica anno accademico 2024-25, the lectures are recorded.
