Dear all,
We would like to provide relevant information about the business simulation as part of Entrepreneurial Finance course that is held from November 30 to December 1. As you will be competing in teams against each other, excitement and fun are guaranteed.
The aim of this module is to deal with management's responsibility for long-term financial performance. The seminar provides a comprehensive approach addressing all key areas of business (strategy, procurement, logistics, manufacturing, marketing, finance, controlling, HR, etc.) and their linkages. Furthermore, you will not just listen; rather you actively work in small teams making decisions and taking responsibility. The quality of your decisions will affect your market position, cost structure, profit, and balance sheet. We will simulate your decisions in a computer model and analyze the results obtained with you in depth. The analysis will promote your awareness for the financial impact of business decisions and will strengthen your knowledge about financial statements and KPIs. Furthermore, the analysis provides the linkage between corporate strategy and financial success.
The business simulation takes two days or three periods. At the end of the simulation, a winning team will be rewarded. The format of “learning by doing” will enhance your skills effectively. To maximize the value of the seminar, it is important that you are prepared. In particular, you should be familiar with the company your will be responsible for (this is the "COPYFIX AG"). The company is described in detail in the accompanying user manual. We kindly ask you to READ the USER MANUAL carefully. On page 31 you will find the decision form illustrating the decisions that you have to make each period. At the end of the user manual, you can find management reports, which provide the information you need for making smart decisions. The better prepared you are, the greater your learning experience and fun. Participants who are prepared can focus on the competition rather than getting lost in the manual when hopelessly looking for information under time pressure. In each of the teams, a notebook is required. Since the seminar emphasizes, “learning by doing,” active participation is key.
We are looking forward to the seminar.
