2. 2nd March: *** All classes are suspended until 8/3/2020 (or further notice). ***

However, to avoid further delays in your class activities, we will experiment with lectures delivered through videos. The first one will be uploaded on the 2nd March, other will probably follow. Check the section with teaching materials and the new schedule of learning activities below.

3. 3rd March: *** Update on teaching material ***

As you can see, the first set of video lectures is already available. One student noted that the folder with the presentations is empty: I could see all files from my side of Moodle, but I tried to log in as "Guest" and found it empty too. So, I deleted and re-uploaded everything. Hopefully this time it works.

I am still struggling to obtain videos with better quality, despite Moodle. Maybe I'll upload them on YouTube, but still thinking about it.

Moreover, since we are not taking traditional front lectures you don't have any chance to ask questions or to point out where my explanation is unclear. So let me know about it below if you need it: I'll add a forum to this top section of this Moodle page.

4. 4th March: *** Update on health emergency ***

Today an announcement was made on a possibile further delay of the suspension of all frontal lessons in all Italian schools and universities, until 15th March.
This decision is still not definitive, I suppose. But if confirmed we will continue with videos for another week.

5. 5th March: *** Update on video lectures ***

Today I am moving all videos on YouTube (and link them below). This because we get two useful things: I can keep the video quality to an acceptable level without compressing files for Moodle and you also can watch videos optimized for all devices (mobile phone, tablet, ...).

6. 6th March: *** Update on video lectures ***

Thanks to those letting me know that videos did not work. My fault. I forgot to flag the right spot on YouTube Studio, and videos were available only to me. Now everything works and another video will be uploaded between Sunday and Monday.

7. 9th March: *** Update on video lectures ***

New videos are going to be updated today. Links are provided in the main page.

8. 12th March: *** Update on video lectures ***

New videos were uploaded today. Links are provided in the main page.

9. 18th March: *** Update on video lectures ***

New videos were uploaded today and two days ago. But you can also test your understanding by taking an online sample test that can be found here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeHJchk_mbDUDgcyb9wAne7yiq7urQC8oZowTAqtFQu5cAvuw/viewform

After enough responses will be collected, I will provide a video review of the test and a feedback on how your performance.

10. 5th April: *** Update on class activities ***

While new videos appear regularly online, together with exercises and their review, I have just uploaded a new test on the first part of the module on Financial Institutions. You can find it here:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSedEOspn338XOm-QMaJzJAKxijZGP7eXq7xSxF3bX_xEXmLzg/viewform

This time there is a deadline: Friday 10th April.

I will provide as before a commentary on the answers and a feedback to those that participated. Again, you can leave your name or nickname, as you prefer.

11. 9th April - *** update on class activities ***

New videos were uploaded today on insurance and pensions.

Note that there is a new series of exercises in the usual folder that will be reviewed in a following video, but try to solve them after studying this chapter.

11th May: *** Update on exam ***

I have updated the dates for the exams taking place in the next session. They may still be subject to changes: I am still waiting for a confirmation from our secretariat, that typically depends on avoiding overlapping exam dates from the same semester. Hopefully they will not change.

As mentioned during a couple of videos, and as you can see on Esse3 by choosing one exam date, I had to make some changes from the original syllabus: there will not be a written exam (it is hard to ensure that it works properly while using online tools), so there will only be an oral examination. It will take the usual form, as if all participants passed the test (3 questions, one of your choice, around 15-20 minutes, and so on). Also grading will remain the same: I will propose higher marks for those able to prove competence in technical language, knowledge of topics, ability to link different topics and to apply concepts to real-world examples.

Exams will take place online, through Microsoft Teams (links and instructions will be sent to those enrolled by email in due time). All participants can listen to each oral examination, recording will be strictly forbidden, you will be required to prove your identity by showing your ID to me (so you will need a webcam and I will figure out how to grant you privacy when showing your document). I hope there will no issues with your connection or mine. If so, we will immediately try to reconnect. However, if in due time you are unable to participate, there is nothing else I can do: you will be considered absent.

At the end of the exam I will propose a final grade, and you will have the choice between taking it or taking another exam later. Requests such as "ask me something else for a higher grade" will not be accepted.

As soon as the situation goes back to normal (hopefully before September, but I am not confident about it), the exam will go back to the original version: test + oral.

I have reserved more than one date for each session in order to accomodate larger numbers of participants: I will share with you the plan as soon as we check who is there and who is not.

Let me know if you have questions, suggestions or other things you want to ask, by writing here (keep emails to a minimum, since I already receive too many, and consider that your question - and the eventual answer - may be helpful to others passing by too).

Kind regards to all of you!

*** 22nd May 2020 ***

Unfortunately, we will not be able to host the seminar on the Lloyd's market.

However, as planned, we will have a final Q&A session on 26th May through Microsoft Teams, following this link.
