Dear Students,

welcome to the Development Anthropology course for the academic year 2020-2021.

My name is Carolina Boldoni and I will be your lecturer throughout the course (40 hrs).

I am a cultural anthropologist: I have a PhD in social anthropology and intangible cultural heritage studies expert and, since last year, I have been an adjunct professor of this course at the University of Trieste.

My field of research is South East Asia, in particular the state of East Timor. Please find attached a recently published article in which I present my research. Don't worry, it won't be exam material: it is just a way to introduce myself to you, since we don't know each other yet.

The Development Anthropology course will start on Tuesday 2nd March, at 14:00 and will be held entirely online on the Microsoft Teams platform.

There's a Teams group dedicated to it but we decided to use the Google Meet platform for our schedules classes: I'll send you a dedicated link to access the lesson before the scheduled time.

In case you need it, this is my e-mail address: cboldoni@units.it.

The course's schedule confirmed:

Tuesday and Wednesday from 14:00 to 16:00.

Considering that the course consists of 40 hours and taking into account public holidays, the course will end on 11th May 2021.

The course does not include a final exam, but an on-going evaluation, taking into account your participation, your attendance at the course and the presentations and workshops that we will make during the lessons. I will provide all course's materials, so you are not required to buy any textbooks.

If you are a "non-attendee", please send me an email at cboldoni@units.it so that we can agree on the programme to prepare.

You'll be required to write a short essay regarding any topic you'd like, that you're required to analyse through the applied/development anthropology's literature (that I'll provide you).

For any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me at the above email address.

See you soon,

Carolina Boldoni
