Early this afternoon, I received the OK I had been waiting for from the academic bodies regarding the rules I set for the simplified version of the Advanced Accounting exam designed to facilitate passing although with the awarding of only a passing grade.

As promised, I therefore proceed to set an extraordinary exam for April 20, 2023 with the following terms:

RULES FOR EXTRAORDINARY EXAMINATION

Taking advantage of the fact that, as of next year, the Financial Statement Analysis module will be taught by a new lecturer (Prof. Valentinuz in place of Dr. Altin) and in order to help those who have so far been unable to pass the standard examination, we have decided to offer the possibility of taking an 'extraordinary' examination, simplified with respect to the standard one, with the goal of reaching a minimum grade to pass the exam.

This simplified version of the exam will be conducted as follows:

  1. it will be taken using the Moodle platform, taking advantage of one of the two computer rooms in the Department (the most spacious).
  2. it will include 20 basic closed-ended questions divided as follows: 10 on Financial Statement Analysis (first part); 3 on Consolidated Financial Statements and 7 on Management Control (second part); note that this breakdown reflects the weighting of the two modules once it is considered that the grade given to the project work will no longer be considered.
  3. it will entail, as a requirement for passing, at least 5 correct answers for each part.
  4. it will award a mark of 18 to those who answer correctly a number of questions between 14 and 16, a mark of 19 to those who answer a number of questions between 17 and 19 and a mark of 20 to those who answer all the questions.
  5. the results of the project work will not be taken into account and no further possibility of increasing the mark will be given (which may still be refused, but in that case the examination will have to be taken again in the traditional manner, in the new version that will be given with the arrival of Prof. Valentinuz).

In any case, everyone is reminded that the project work grade and the consequent possibility of using it for examination purposes will expire with the start of the course under the new arrangements (first semester of the next academic year).
