This course covers the main optical microscopy techniques and their latest innovations, starting from basic physical principles to examples of applications in biology and biotechnology. Particular emphasis will be given to practical aspects of microscopy techniques and sample preparation in order to provide students with a knowledge useful in future usage and selection of microscopes. We will further cover image processing and analysis - a critical aspect of quantitative microscopy.
